Walk on the Wild SIde

by mtremblay on April 16, 2012

I have never been one to walk on the wild side…till recently.

For many years I worked as a floral designer doing flowers in people's homes and enjoying that aspect of the design/art world. Most recently, however, a shift in my conciousness…I am now doing art work. Not just any art work either…Paper sculpture…WHAT? You ask? Paper sculpture?

I KNOW…CRAZY!

The people around me are all very supportive. My Husband (the dearest creature on earth for sure) my sons (more dearest creatures on earth), and my closest friends all are very supportive. I wonder what they are thinking on the inside because I know what I am frequently thinking.

This feels nuts! And it feels just right…all at the same time.

I have been making these flowers non-stop for the last 4 months. I am almost obsessed with them. They are on my mind about 20 hours a day. (I sleep at least 4 hours every night)

SO what is wild. Well for me:

1. I have never considered myself anything but a painter and here I am doing sculpture…really? I don't even really like sculpture!

2. I have just entered a huge art competition….something I would never dream of doing…ever…so many people could potentially see what I am doing…and like it OR not!

3. I continue to do this activity every day. I can't remember ever being so determined, and I don't really understand this. I simply know these flowers must get done.

4. There is no room in my house for anything else and I have no idea where I will put more of these flowers but they must get made! Currently, they are all over the walls in my house and out art collection, which is pretty awesome, is going to be rearranged to accomodate these huge flowers.

While I recognize this isn't climbing the highest mountain, surfing the biggest wave, singing in front of thousands of people, for me this is a step into the wild side.

How about you? Have you spent any time living on the wild side? I think it might be where you have a few dreams stashed waiting for you!

Come on over. It's a little scary but plenty of fun too. And one more thing!

Don't forget to make today your best day ever!

Michele

I can relate for sure, I'm on the wild side and going wilder in a week when I go to Africa!  Great post thanks!

Michele, your excitement is palpable!  And I'm sure there are others out there who would love to take on new projects … art or other … and who could use a little of your enthusiasm to give them permission to have the fun you're having.  Have you thought of putting together a 30-Day Journey to Joyful Expression ebook that you would market through your site and elsewhere … like a workbook that gets them focused, directed and "doing their thing"?

sounds like you've found something that really resonates with you…a real passion!  I'm glad you're not just ignoring it, but instead, embracing and experiencing it. We all need to do that.  I agree with Sharon that it's very inspiring to read about you going through this.  I think it will help others to pursue what they love too!

I always believe that it's really good to step out from our comfort zone sometimes. With it, you can really find an adventure.

Michele, I love your passion! What is life worth unless we follow our passion! About four-months ago I also took up a new art form – beading – and like you, it makes me so happy! How fun to share this journey with you – thanks!

You made me smile! Thanks. We all deserve to step into our own wildness. Thanks for showing us a way forward in that direction!

Oh, your obsession sounds so enticing to me! I can't say I've ever had anything grab and hold me like your flowers consume you… and that makes me jealous. My partner is the same way when he's writing songs. Some songs consume him! They won't let him go. And I just watch in fascination! I'm so happy for you.

Nuts and right all at the same time? We are sisters for sure! Love what you do!

Michele, I'm so delighted to see your gorgeous face and gorgeous flower all in one image! Woohoo!
Maybe the reason you feel so compelled to do your flowers is that the Universe is goosing you to model what it's like to bloom, no matter how or when. :)
Thanks for sharing with us!

I just love how excited you are about this Michele!  And the flowers are beautiful.  I have always been one to pursue my passions so it's not a new thought for me, but I must say you are quite an inspiration.  I'll have to spend some time thinking about how I can stretch myself even further.
